Ingredients
 

  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 pound sea scallops
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the shrimp and scallops under cold water. Pat them dry with paper towels to ensure they sear properly.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the white wine and lemon juice. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to reduce slightly.
  • Add the scallops to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Be careful not to overcook them.
  • Add the shrimp to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until pink and opaque.
  • Stir in the butter and parsley. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  • Serve immediately over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.

Notes

Cook the scallops and shrimp in batches to ensure they sear properly. Overcrowding the pan lowers the temperature and steams the seafood instead of searing it. Watch the Cooking Time: Shrimp and scallops cook quickly. Therefore, be vigilant to prevent overcooking, which can make them rubbery.
