Equipment

  • Espresso Machine
  • Milk Frother (optional)
  • Small Clear Glass (4-5 oz)

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Espresso Double shot
  • 2 ounces Milk Whole milk recommended, or your choice of milk alternative

Instructions

  • Brew a double shot of espresso using your espresso machine. Ensure the espresso is rich and concentrated. Pour it into your serving glass.
  • Warm the milk using a milk frother or by heating it gently on the stovetop. Avoid scalding the milk. Aim for a temperature between 140-160°F (60-71°C).
  • (Optional) If desired, froth the milk gently until it is smooth and velvety to create a light microfoam.
  • Gently pour the warm milk over the espresso. Use roughly a 1:1 ratio of espresso to milk. Pour slowly to maintain the layers.
  • Serve your cortado immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use freshly roasted coffee beans for the best flavor.
  • Experiment with the espresso-to-milk ratio to find your preferred balance.
  • Try different milk alternatives like almond, soy, or oat milk.
  • For a touch of sweetness, add a teaspoon of honey or a dash of flavored syrup.
