Ingredients:
- 4 cups (600g) fresh blackberries
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp (16g) cornstarch
- 1 tbsp (15ml) lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp (0.5g) ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp (7g) baking powder
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
- 3/4 cup (180ml) whole milk
- 6 tbsp (85g) melted butter
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon.
- Fold in the fresh blackberries and lemon juice, tossing gently until every berry is coated.
- Place 1/2 cup (113g) of butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish and melt in the oven or microwave.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in the milk until just combined, leaving a few small lumps for texture.
- Carefully pour the batter directly over the melted butter in the baking dish; do not stir.
- Spoon the blackberry mixture over the batter and drizzle with the remaining 6 tbsp of melted butter.
- Bake for 60 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the berries are bubbling.
