Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (30g) Dutch-process cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
- 1/2 cup (85g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup (170g) unsalted butter, browned and cooled slightly
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp (5g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Whisk melted butter and sugar until combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla until the mixture looks glossy and smooth.
- Sift in cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Fold gently with a spatula until just combined to ensure a fudgy texture.
- Stir in semi-sweet chocolate chips to the brownie batter and set aside.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until the butter foams and brown bits form at the bottom; remove from heat immediately.
- Beat the browned butter with brown and granulated sugars until fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla, beating until pale.
- Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop 1 tablespoon of brownie batter onto a lined baking sheet, then top with a portion of the brown butter cookie dough.
- Bake for approximately 10 minutes or until the cookie top is golden brown.
